I have literally straightened my hair within an inch of its life this week for an important conference, so much so that when it is washed, it has a slightly burnt smell, as well as a crispy texture. One quick glance at my hair from the stylists at my salon, and they immediately put me under the sink, washing and rinsing my hair with only one product. After towel-drying it, I looked at my hair and WOW! It was like the damage had been reversed, and my hair was back to its curly, bouncy glory.

Now mind you, even though I work in a salon, I don’t exactly keep up with constant haircuts and styles all the time. Hey now, you can’t blame me. I’m a poor student who still has to pay for books too! So when they used the product, I was literally shocked. There is no such thing as a magic hair serum, which makes your hair perfect again! Except there apparently is, and it is now a staple in my hair care.

What product is this?

Drum roll please!

macadamia nut

The ever so amazing Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Hair Masque. I kid you not, this stuff works wonders. It made my hair silkier and smoother than ever, and even feels healthier. My curls no longer frizz up; they form neat little ringlets which stay in place – even in Florida humidity!

According to the website, it is a mix of macadamia and argan oils, two essential and healthy oils that help hair in all the right ways:

  • Helps Hair become frizz-free and tangle-free
  • Doesn’t leave your hair feeling greasy, oily, or heavy at all!
  • Absorbs into your hair relatively fast, reducing drying time
  • Has UV protection for your lovely locks

One of the best things about this brand is that a little goes a long way. I buy the little packets (1 fl. oz or 30 mL), and I only use a quarter of it each time. Whenever I rinse my hair, I just use a quarter – size amount and let it sit for about 10 minutes  (nothing more, because the pores in your hair can only soak up so much, but you’re welcome to try!) and then wash it out. One thing that I have noticed though, is that if it is used too much (more than once a week), it does leave hair feeling a little heavy and oily, so sometimes it does take a little trial and error just to see how much you need.

I asked a stylist, and she said:

If your hair is at your shoulders or shorter, you should be using a quarter size amount.

If your hair is past your shoulders and stops at the bottom of your shoulder blades, then you need about 1 and a half of a quarter sized amount.

If your hair is past your shoulder blades, go for two or more quarter size amounts.

So that’s why I’m extending the offer to you, lovely ladies.

One lucky winner will receive a 1 fl. oz packet of this wonderful product. The great thing is that it’s good for two or three weeks if you use it right.

All you need to do is write a comment with your name, email address, and the hair care product you’d like to see reviewed.

The winner will be picked by September 20th, 2012 and contacted for more details.

Until next time!
